I've hung myself again, but this time with not enough rope
The pit of my stomach dropped out like a trapdoor
I've broken through bedrock before
I'm shattered rearviews and tools that are threadbare and worn
Let's set ourselves up to let ourselves down
We settle for everything so we don't have to strike out.

And was the time we spent well invested?
Or should I have taken this idea and repressed it?
Cause every hour means a day of inside hollowed,
Quarter-hearted up turned lips and conversations shallow.
The sun keeps coming up without your outline in my sheets.
And I complain but we agreed I lost that right to speech.
Some would liken this to a wound but we won't cause it's too much too soon. (I've mapped this all out but it's faded)
I'm a church I haven't entered in stacking seasons.
Burning inside out, the windows boarded up so no one sees in.
The kindling fed the flame, the distance proved the billow.
There's no time for the chaff and grain to be winnowed.
Push down on both ends til we get hairline fractures.
Spread out like veins and branches until we are captured.
