Marionette

Anchors and millstones hung around my neck
I could use a hole in my head
I can't compete with death
I am the fifth horseman that everyone forgets.
You were the gallows I got hung up on
The hook that tore straight through the side of my mouth
(I feel like I've been robbed, it's a disgusting thought)
I hid your memory under my mattress and saved it til further notice.
Wrapped up in greed, tried to make you family
Cold lips, they move like marionettes.
You heard the voice of God, but it was less impressive than you thought,

Fidgeting fingers wait anxious at the terminal
Breaking voices, they say so much more than we can tell
And the outlines around your eyes, they are unbearable.
And I know, we'll both be fine. But damn does this hurt like hell.
This surely is a hallmark moment, it took me ten whole months to blow it.
This milestone deserves a millstone, so wrap it around my throat.
