Infrared (2012)

about

Had to dig into the ol memory banks to pull up this never completed song I recorded in early 2012.

Listening back, you can hear that I was trying to be as quiet as possible while getting the vocals down. It doesn't quite leave a memorable vocal performance, but I think the guitar, while simple, is worth sharing. I've always enjoyed this riff and if it were sped up and expanded I think it could be really fun. But the expanding it is tricky.

Throughout my songwriting I've had a few different ones that got away from me. Melodies and licks that I played with for years and I could never get them to turn into anything I felt was good enough to attach to the core idea of the song. Hopefully putting this back into the forefront of my brain will help me get it back.

lyrics

I can break his legs, keep him still for some months.
But he keeps getting what we want.
People talk about inside fires and how they can't go out.
True or else we'll find out because my flame will be doused.

Can you grasp there's more than one sun?
And you're not even one.
The universe is chalk full of stars
And you're not even on the charts.
